Baseball Recap: White Pine Drops Highest Score of Season Against Laughlin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Pine). They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Laughlin Cougars on Friday. The Bobcats have beaten the Cougars the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Maddox Sedlacek made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, White Pine got a massive performance out of Jacob Derbidge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Derbidge has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hall, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

White Pine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

White Pine's record now sits at 10-7. As for Laughlin, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

White Pine will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair will be back at it again later today.
