Foothill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Red Bluff get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won eight games in a row.

Elisea Wiegand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Taylor Bates was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Malia Webb, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas' rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Oroville. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Kendal Headley, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. Brooklyn Atteberry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Las Plumas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Las Plumas pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their record now sits at 23-5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Foothill hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Las Plumas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Foothill suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Las Plumas when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
