Softball Recap: Scappoose Gets the Win

Scappoose had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Gladstone Gladiators on Tuesday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Gladiators recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Elly Casey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Bloyd, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Scappoose's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Gladstone, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Scappoose will take on La Grande on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Gladstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
