Baseball Game Preview: Warhill Lions vs. Jamestown Eagles

Warhill is 1-9 against Jamestown since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lions will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Warhill took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Smithfield.

Evan Harney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grayson Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Theo Manna was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jamestown hadn't done well against Lafayette recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rams 2-1.

Jamestown's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Warhill, their record is now 5-10.

Warhill came up short against Jamestown in their previous meeting back in April, falling 13-8. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
