Basketball Recap: Piper Timmer Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

On Tuesday, the Sound Christian Lions strolled past the Forest Ridge Sacred Heart Ravens with points to spare, taking the game 40-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sound Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Piper Timmer, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Timmer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Amina Suapaia, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Sound Christian pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for Forest Ridge Sacred Heart, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sound Christian Lions face off against the Crosspoint Christian Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sound Christian's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Crosspoint Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Forest Ridge Sacred Heart, they will welcome Easton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Forest Ridge Sacred Heart is facing Easton at the right time seeing as Easton is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
