Shadyside got their first taste of in-conference action on Wednesday and they started things off strong. They won by a run and slipped past the River Pilots 2-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Ariana Saxton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Shadyside's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for River, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shadyside will take on Shenandoah at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Zeps at the right time seeing as the Zeps are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for River, they will square off against Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Pilots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
