Softball Recap: Mankato West Beats Mankato East for Their Fourth Straight Win

Mankato West extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-3 in the process. They came out on top against the Mankato East Cougars by a score of 5-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Evelyn Erickson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Mankato West's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Hagen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Hagen has brought in this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mankato East fell to 7-1. The game marked their lowest-scoring match so far this season.

On Mankato East's side, Emily Hacker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mankato West will head out to square off against Hopkins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mankato East, they will take on New Ulm at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
