Basketball Recap: Skyline Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Skyline and Spearville squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Skyline had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Spearville Lancers and fell 56-25. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Lancers are ranked 93rd).

When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, don't look at Ashley Spease. Despite the final result, she posted seven points in addition to six boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Spease a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kooper Wesley, who scored seven points.

Skyline has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. Spearville pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

As of now, neither Skyline nor Spearville have any future games scheduled.
