Basketball Game Preview: Chiefland Indians vs. Crystal River Pirates + How To Watch

Chiefland is 0-3 against Crystal River since November of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Indians will welcome the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Chiefland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Chiefland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat P.K. Yonge 75-47. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Blue Wave are ranked 377th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chiefland relied on the efforts of Nyasia Bivins, who dropped a triple-double with 20 points, 13 boards, and 16 steals, and Laila Ingram, who posted 22 points and six steals. Bivins' big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bell, who earned 15 points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-26, which was the final score in Crystal River's tilt against West Port on Tuesday.

Chiefland's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-1. As for Crystal River, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Chiefland couldn't quite finish off Crystal River in their previous meeting back in December of 2017 and fell 61-58. Thankfully for the Indians, Zahria Jenkins (who shot 56% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
