Soccer Game Preview: Middlesex vs. Rivers

Middlesex will head out to take on the Rivers Red Wings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Middlesex is headed into Wednesday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Sebastian's School.

Meanwhile, Rivers faced Milton Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red Wings took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for Rivers in their meetings with Milton Academy: they've now lost four in a row.

Rivers' defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-2. As for Middlesex, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3-2.

Middlesex skirted past Rivers 4-3 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middlesex since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
