Basketball Recap: Hilltop Takes a Loss

Hilltop played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 70-39 loss at the hands of the Montpelier Locomotives. The Cadets haven't had much luck with the Locomotives recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Montpelier found their leader in freshman C.J. Fidler, who went 9 for 14 en route to 27 points. The game was Fidler's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Hartsock, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 17 points along with six boards and three steals.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Montpelier, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Hilltop has already played their next contest (against Tinora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Montpelier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-54 defeat against Paulding on the 25th.
