Softball Recap: Lowry Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

There's no place like home for Lowry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Elko Indians on Wednesday. The Buckaroos haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Maite Bengochea was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adalyn Entwistle, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Dana Micone was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lowry's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Elko, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lowry will face off against Churchill County at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buckaroos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greenwave have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Elko, they will take on Dayton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Dust Devils at the right time seeing as the Dust Devils are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
