 After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Thomasville, Excel was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They came out on top against the Blacksher Bulldogs by a score of  7-3. That's more bragging rights for Excel, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Will Thomas and  Kolby Sirmon made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing,  Thomas   pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Sirmon   pitched four innings while giving up  three earned runs off   three  hits (he also only allowed one  walk). At bat,  Thomas  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while  Sirmon  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Mattox Dailey, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Excel's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Blacksher,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 2-6.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel will be staying on the road  on Monday to face off against Wicksburg at 10:45  a.m. Wicksburg will roll in looking for their  13th straight  victory, something Excel surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blacksher, they will head out on the road to  square off against  McKenzie at 11:00  a.m.  on Thursday. McKenzie is coming into the  game with three straight  defeats at home,  meaning Blacksher will have to defend against a  squad hungry for a  win.
