Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Pima's 16th in Last 18 Outings

Pima had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 40-34 W over the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes. For the Roughriders, this counts as revenge for the 53-50 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Kayenda, who posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Kayenda a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Childers, who had six points along with six steals and five boards.

Pima is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Pima and Arizona Lutheran Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Pima (ranked 73rd) will meet Lincoln Prep (ranked 264th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pima is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Similarly, Arizona Lutheran Academy will take on ALA - Anthem South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 222 places (111 vs. 333).
