Preview: Neshoba Central Rockets vs. Germantown Mavericks
Neshoba Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will jump right back in to play the Germantown Mavericks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neshoba Central will be strutting in after a victory while Germantown will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Neshoba Central faced Callaway in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Neshoba Central had just enough and edged Callaway out 53-50. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Neshoba Central has scored all year.
Kyli Truss and Katelin Williams were among the main playmakers for Neshoba Central as the former scored 12 points and the latter scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Germantown unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. The game between Germantown and Tupelo wasn't particularly close, with Germantown falling 56-42.
Despite the defeat, Germantown got a solid performance out of Alana Rouser, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Rouser is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Julia Glasgow was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Neshoba Central pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.95 points. As for Germantown, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Neshoba Central hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 70.2 points per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 51.6 points per game. The only thing between Neshoba Central and another offensive beatdown is Germantown. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Neshoba Central strolled past Germantown in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 55-38. Does Neshoba Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Germantown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
