Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Johnston Panthers

The Mt. Hope Huskies will challenge the Johnston Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mt. Hope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Tiverton, who was ranked 11th at the time (Mt. Hope was ranked 23rd). Mt. Hope took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tiverton on Thursday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnston). They breezed past Toll Gate to the tune of 60-31 on Thursday.

Johnston's win came from a few key players Mt. Hope will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alanna Colon, who posted 21 points. Johnston is undefeated when Colon posts 20 or more points, but 5-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabella Gesauldi, who earned 14 points.

Mt. Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Mt. Hope didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Johnston in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win. Will Mt. Hope repeat their success, or does Johnston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
