Baseball Game Preview: Mound-Westonka White Hawks vs. St. Francis Fighting Saints

The Mound-Westonka White Hawks are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the St. Francis Fighting Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mound-Westonka barely beat Southwest Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The White Hawks never let the Stars get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday.

Mound-Westonka saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson VanNut, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, St. Francis strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Cambridge-Isanti as they made off with an 11-0 victory.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Fiskewold, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Lance, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Mound-Westonka's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. Francis, their record now sits at 3-0.

Mound-Westonka might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from St. Francis when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the White Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
