Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Fremd Vikings

Barrington is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Fremd is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fillies/Broncos will host the Vikings at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Barrington 3.7, Fremd 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Barrington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Whitney Young on Saturday. The Fillies/Broncos never let the Dolphins get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Fillies/Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Barrington got a great performance from Collin Kane as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zack Ostergaaurd, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Cavaliero, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Fremd's hitters rose to the challenge against a Blue Devils pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.45 runs allowed on Saturday. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past Warren Township 10-9. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Barrington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Fremd, their win bumped their record up to 19-0-1.

Barrington was able to grind out a solid victory over Fremd in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Do the Fillies/Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
