Baseball Recap: New Diana Snags 14th Win in Last 15 Games

It's playoff time, and New Diana had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the De Kalb Bears 5-4.

Remi Rountree spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Sherman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Hankins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

New Diana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for De Kalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

New Diana will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
