Baseball Game Preview: Triumph Charter Jaguars vs. Eagle Rock Eagles

The Triumph Charter Jaguars will square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Triumph Charter has seven straight wins, Eagle Rock has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Triumph Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Maywood Academy 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since April 9th.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Simon Trujillo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Alan Rojas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Eagle Rock played against Jefferson on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

For Eagle Rock's part, they got a good showing from Odin Tuntland, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tuntland has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Sugi was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Eagle Rock: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-12 otherwise.

Triumph Charter's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Eagle Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
