Softball Game Preview: Sugar-Salem Diggers vs. Marsh Valley Eagles

The Sugar-Salem Diggers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Marsh Valley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sugar-Salem has three straight wins, Marsh Valley has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Sugar-Salem is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Snake River on Tuesday as Sugar-Salem made off with a 19-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Diggers with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Kambry Bartholick, who scored three runs and stole two bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Hirschi, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Meanwhile, Marsh Valley lost 13-3 to Malad on Saturday.

Marsh Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Bartschi, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Sugar-Salem's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Marsh Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Sugar-Salem took their victory against Marsh Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 25-14. Will Sugar-Salem repeat their success, or does Marsh Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
