Volleyball Recap: Batesburg-Leesville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Genevieve Potts and Carley Soper

Batesburg-Leesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenbrier Wolfpack.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-20.

Batesburg-Leesville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carley Soper, who had 11 digs and two aces, and Genevieve Potts, who had seven digs. Soper has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Sam Wanamaker was the offensive standout of the match as she had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last 11 games. Lindsay Hayes also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Batesburg-Leesville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1. As for Greenbrier, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Batesburg-Leesville and Greenbrier will both be playing Academy of Richmond County the next time they take the court. The Panthers will host the Musketeers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Wolfpack will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
