Softball Recap: St. Helena Now 13-1 over Last 14 Games

Cloverdale typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday St. Helena proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Saints have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Lillian Grimes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Olive Filippini was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Helena hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale struck out eight times.

St. Helena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, they moved to 14-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

St. Helena and Cloverdale should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Saints will face off against Kelseyville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (228 vs. 800). Meanwhile, Cloverdale (ranked 285th) will meet Upper Lake (ranked 983rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
