Softball Recap: Waukesha West Drops Highest Score of Season Against Waukesha South

Waukesha West extended their winning streak to seven on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 14-8 in the process. Everything went their way against the Waukesha South Blackshirts as they made off with a 25-1 win. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lauren Walters made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Payton Hisel was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Paige Kahle was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.

Waukesha West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukesha South only posted an OBP of .118.

As for Waukesha South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Waukesha South's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deanna Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Waukesha West and Waukesha South could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Wolverines will take on Arrowhead at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (135 vs. 17). Meanwhile, Waukesha South (ranked 307th) will meet Pewaukee (ranked 110th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
