Volleyball Game Preview: Galesburg Silver Streaks vs. LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers

The Galesburg Silver Streaks will square off against the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Galesburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Streator by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Silver Streaks.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Galesburg was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-9.

Grace Herchenroder and Evelin Guel were among the main playmakers for Galesburg as the former had 11 digs and three assists and the latter had 14 assists. Herchenroder has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, LaSalle-Peru hadn't done well against Kaneland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cavaliers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Knights. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16.

Galesburg better focus on containing Emma Jereb and Aubrey Urbanski as the pair were huge in LaSalle-Peru's win. Jereb had 16 assists and nine digs, while Urbanski had ten assists and three digs. That's the most assists Urbanski has posted over her last six matchups.

Galesburg's record is now 15-20. As for LaSalle-Peru, their record now sits at 29-5.

Galesburg came up short against LaSalle-Peru in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 2-0. Can the Silver Streaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
