Baseball Recap: Alamosa Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Alamosa took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Gunnison, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mean Moose came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cowboys on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tony Griego was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Alamosa: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Maez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Alamosa's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Gunnison, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Alamosa has already played their next match, an 11-9 victory against Lamar on the 4th. As for Gunnison, they will head out on the road to take on Coal Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
