Baseball Recap: Highland Park Takes a Loss

After flying high against White Deer last Thursday, Highland Park came back down to earth. Highland Park fell just short of the Booker Kiowas by a score of 13-12 on Friday.

Luis Marquez and Brady Ruth did some serious damage despite the final result: Marquez scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Ruth scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Highland Park is 3-1 when Ruth posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Highland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Highland Park's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Booker, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Highland Park is taking a road trip to take on Gruver at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Booker, they will welcome Follett at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
