Basketball Recap: Jenkins Takes a Loss

Jenkins saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 70-51 bruising from the Andrew Jackson Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 306th in Georgia, while the Tigers are ranked sixth in Florida).

Donald Hackworth had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 57% from the field en route to 23 points and eight boards for Andrew Jackson. With that strong performance, Hackworth is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Theodore Sylney also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Jenkins has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Andrew Jackson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.

Looking ahead, Jenkins will take on Luella in a tournament on Saturday. The Lions have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Andrew Jackson, they will finish 2025 at home by hosting First Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Buccaneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.92 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
