Basketball Recap: Stockton Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Jayden Chamblee and Mckenzy Escalante

Stockton Christian was the 75-32 winner over Humphreys Able Charter when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Stockton Christian Eagles took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Humphreys Able Charter Legacy on Thursday. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Legacy 17-13 in the first quarter.

McKenzy Escalante and Jayden Chamblee certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Escalante posted 14 points, while Chamblee had 18 points. The game was Chamblee's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Joshua Jordan Henderson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Humphreys Able Charter found their leader in sophomore Khamseng Milavong, who earned 23 points. Milavong continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Gonzales Jr., who scored 13 points.

Stockton Christian dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Humphreys Able Charter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Stockton Christian has already played their next match, an 81-2 win against Don Pedro on the 17th. As for Humphreys Able Charter, they will host Vanguard College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanguard College Prep will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Humphreys Able Charter surely won't give up without a fight.
