Softball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Miners vs. Hampshire Trojans

Mountain Ridge has gone a perfect 4-0 against Hampshire recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Miners will head out to challenge the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

On Monday, Mountain Ridge earned a 9-4 victory over Martinsburg.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hampshire). They blew past East Hardy 43-30 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Bri Cosner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Cosner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Call was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Kaitlyn Ferguson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Mountain Ridge's record now sits at 7-3. As for Hampshire, their record is now 4-12.

Everything went Mountain Ridge's way against Hampshire in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, as Mountain Ridge made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
