Baseball Recap: Ashdown Has No Trouble Against Bismarck

While Ashdown put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Bismarck. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ashdown let Gunnar Altenbaumer and Walt Jones run wild. Altenbaumer went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Jones scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Wood Walton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Ashdown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bismarck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashdown will square off against Genoa Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3, the Dragons 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bismarck, they will face off against Prescott at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Curley Wolves at the right time seeing as the Curley Wolves are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
