Soccer Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Falls Church Jaguars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mount Vernon of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mount Vernon's record now sits at 1-9. As for Falls Church, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-10 record.

Looking ahead, Mount Vernon will square off against Langley at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Langley's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Falls Church does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
