Football Game Preview: Niskayuna Silver Warriors vs. La Salle Institute Cadets

The Niskayuna Silver Warriors will head out to square off against the La Salle Institute Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Niskayuna has three straight victories, La Salle Institute has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Niskayuna is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 51-12 win over Troy. The Silver Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

A big part of Niskayuna's victory came down to the chemistry between Thomas Boler and his top target Cameron Grasso. Boler threw for 224 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes while Grasso picked up 145 receiving yards and three scores. Grasso showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 62 yards.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Niskayuna, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Grasso, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, La Salle Institute ended up a good deal behind Columbia on Friday and lost 31-12.

La Salle Institute's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Niskayuna, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Niskayuna against La Salle Institute in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silver Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
