Baseball Recap: Grandview Takes Down Ranked Cherokee Trail

Grandview faced Cherokee Trail in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cougars 2-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Cherokee Trail's batters probably weren't too happy with Ethan Wachsmann, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up three walks).

On the hitting side, Grandview's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chase Chapman, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Chapman a new career-high.

Grandview's record is now 10-3. As for Cherokee Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Grandview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
