Baseball Recap: Pebble Hills Gets the Win

Pebble Hills won the last time they faced Coronado and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pebble Hills Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coronado Thunderbirds, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Thunderbirds since March 30, 2021.

Mateo Contreras spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Pebble Hills saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adriel Nevarez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Nevarez also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Pebble Hills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Coronado's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Coincidentally, Pebble Hills and Coronado will both be playing Montwood the next time they take the field. Pebble Hills will head out to face Montwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Coronado will host them at 6:30 p.m. on March 18th.
