The North Gaston Wildcats will challenge the East Gaston Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
North Gaston took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Ashbrook get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Parker Gordon made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Gordon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, North Gaston got a massive performance out of Layla Love, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That run was Love's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Quill, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
North Gaston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, East Gaston made easy work of Bessemer City on Tuesday and carried off a 20-2 victory. The Warriors have beaten the Yellow Jackets the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Yellow Jackets has come to flipping the script.
Like North Gaston, East Gaston also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyndall Godley. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Godley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with five RBI and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Madi Perrigo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Molly Kuprokski was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
The win got North Gaston back to even at 2-2. As for East Gaston, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
North Gaston suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to East Gaston when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can North Gaston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
