Baseball Recap: Yreka Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Yreka had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-10 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Marysville Indians. For the Miners, this counts as revenge for the 12-2 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Gabe Gregg made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Yreka: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nathan Horvath was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Avery Isbell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Yreka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Marysville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17-1. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly five runs.

On Marysville's side, Joe Harden made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Yreka didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against University Prep on the 16th. As for Marysville, they have also already played their next match, a 5-0 victory against River Valley on the 16th.
