Baseball Recap: Spartanburg Takes a Loss

Spartanburg extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-19 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the J.L. Mann Patriots. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for J.L. Mann, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

For J.L. Mann's part, they got a great performance from Josh Carlson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Carlson has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaido Greene, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Ward was another key player, earning two runs and three stolen bases.

As of now, neither Spartanburg nor J.L. Mann have any future games scheduled.
