Recap: Temple Christian Academy vs. Yulee Hornets

Temple Christian Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 win over Yulee. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 21 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Temple Christian Academy did.

Temple Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micah Dixon, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Cameron Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Yulee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Spencer, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jycere Richardson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.

Temple Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Yulee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Baker County the next time they take the court. Yulee will head out to face Baker County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Temple Christian Academy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
