Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Cathedral's Winning Streak

Cathedral lost against Center Grove back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The contest between the Cathedral Fighting Irish and the Center Grove Trojans didn't end well, with the Cathedral Fighting Irish falling 49-32. The game marked the Fighting Irish's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Cathedral still got an impressive performance from Jaeda Wilson, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 34.4% of Cathedral's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Ava Grant was her usual excellent self, going 5 for 9 en route to 15 points for Center Grove. What's more, Grant also racked up three boards, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Lilly Bischoff was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

The loss snapped Cathedral's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-8 record. As for Center Grove, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Cathedral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-31 victory against Huntington North on the 25th. Center Grove has also already played their next matchup, a 67-59 defeat against Hamilton Southeastern on the 25th.
