Amari Baldwin leads Albemarle to victory over Union Academy

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 34 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact the Albemarle Bulldogs proved on Friday. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over Union Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Albemarle.

Amari Baldwin was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine steals. Baldwin is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Union Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ranon Suttle. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 1 assist.

Albemarle's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Union Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albemarle will take on Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Pleasant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Union Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gray Stone Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Academy is coming into the contest with four straight defeats at home, so Gray Stone Day is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
