Preview: Triangle Math & Science Tigers vs. Clover Garden School Grizzlies
Triangle Math & Science has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Clover Garden School Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Triangle Math & Science's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
In what's become a running theme this season, Triangle Math & Science gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Ascend Leadership 64-18 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-8.
Triangle Math & Science relied on the efforts of Samrita Sriram, who scored 20 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Leanna Nohs, who scored 33 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Sriram posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Yashitha Vanamala, who scored five points along with eight assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Clover Garden School's game on Wednesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethany. Clover Garden School has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Hanna Tickle, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Arissa Duff was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Clover Garden School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bethany posted 12 assists.
Triangle Math & Science's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Clover Garden School, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Triangle Math & Science have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Clover Garden School, though, as they've been averaging only 25.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Triangle Math & Science was taken down by Clover Garden School 66-26 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Triangle Math & Science, Reagan Allison (who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
