Basketball Recap: Bellville Comes Up Short

Bellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caldwell Hornets. The Brahmas were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 42-37.

Caldwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ireland Morgan led the charge by putting up 11 points. Those 11 points gave Morgan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Jones, who posted nine points.

Bellville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Caldwell, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15.

Bellville and Caldwell could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Bellville (ranked 1118th) will meet La Grange (ranked 483rd) at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Caldwell will face off against Navasota at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 600 places (1115 vs. 515).
