Softball Recap: Lyford Falls Short of Santa Gertrudis Academy in the Playoffs

Lyford and Santa Gertrudis Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lyford had to settle for second. They fell 6-1 to the Lions. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bulldogs who fell 5-3 when the teams previously met back in March of 2023.

Lyford has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-8.

While Lyford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
