Softball Recap: Hackleburg Takes Down Lynn in a Playoff Battle

Hackleburg had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Lynn Bears on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. Considering the Panthers have won 22 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Braylynn Pope made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Pope was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted over her last 17 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryleigh Butler, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 games. Brooklyn Butler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hackleburg lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Hackleburg's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 33-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Lynn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-14-2.

Hackleburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lynn, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Vina on the 29th.
