Midway took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Rich Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Laicey Anderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Michaela Brown, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Midway moved to 10-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Rich Hill, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midway will face off against Kingsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rich Hill, they will head out to square off against Lockwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lockwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Rich Hill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
