Baseball Recap: Taylorsville Victorious

Taylorsville hadn't done well against Cyprus recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted against the Pirates since May 2, 2023.

Alexander Mauger looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Taylorsville's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Taylorsville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Bertagnolli, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Bertagnolli has posted since back in April of 2024.

Taylorsville's record now sits at 8-14. As for Cyprus, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-6 record.

Looking ahead, Taylorsville will look to defend their home field on Monday against Granger at 3:30 p.m. The Warriors are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Cyprus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
