The Coral Reef Barracudas will be taking part in a tournament against the Palmetto Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Coral Reef's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Hialeah-Miami Lakes 15-0. With that victory, the Barracudas brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Avery Clegg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Junco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Fields, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Coral Reef always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Palmetto had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 25-8 win. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Madeleine Baldwin was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Angelina Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Coral Reef is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Palmetto, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coral Reef hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Palmetto struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Coral Reef's way against Palmetto in their previous matchup back in March, as Coral Reef made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Barracudas repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
