Baseball Recap: Hereford Comes Up Short

Hereford fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Pampa on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pampa Harvesters by a score of 5-4. The Whitefaces just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Ethan Subealdea was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Subealdea wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Hill, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Hereford's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1. As for Pampa, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4-1.

Hereford and Pampa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Hereford (ranked 288th) will meet Borger (ranked 591st) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pampa will square off against Perryton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 750 places (208 vs. 958).
