Volleyball Recap: Americas' Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Americas was the 2-0 winner over Monterey when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trail Blazers fell just short of the Plainsmen by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The game marked the Trail Blazers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Americas saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sydney Avila had 18 digs and two aces. Avila is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Americas fell to 4-1. As for Monterey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Americas will take on Boerne-Champion in a tournament on Saturday. As for Monterey, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Liberty at 1:00 p.m.
